Project 365 - Day 4 A Cold and Frozen Morning Walk

We decided to go for a walk around the local nature reserve today. We are lucky enough to be just a 5 minute walk from a wetland nature reserve so we decided to go for a walk this morning. It was cold but not as cold as it has been recently and for once everything was covered in frost this morning.

However, despite this when we got there most of the lake was still frozen over - you can see the ice on the lake in the top right of this picture! Only a small part wasn't frozen and on the smaller ponds you could see where the wardens had been trying to break up the ice, it had got to about 2 inches thick in some places by the look of it.

Managed to get some nice photos but particular liked this one of the swan. There wasn't that many birds there, maybe because it's all frozen they've moved onto another reserve. There was two adult swans and a fully grown signet, loads of ducks (as always!) and a few geese. Had a nice walk though, it's always good to get out somewhere and it's really quite pleasent if you wrap up warm.

Hi Emma, I've just found your blog. It's great to find another Preston crafter in cyberspace! I am looking forward to seeing more of your photos throughout the year.

(P.S Is the photo on the Brickcroft?)
