The lakes and some very exciting news...

Ok so here goes again with those photos of the lakes that I was trying to upload yesterday and it wouldn't let me. Fingers crossed for better luck today!

Hurray it's worked today!!!
And also, great news I'm actually getting my camera today. Off to enroll on the course this morning then meeting Mark so we can go and buy my camera. Decided to do it sooner rather than later as there is currently a £50 cashback offer on with Canon so might as well take advantage of it!
Mark also had a great time snowboarding last night, he did really well considering it was his first time out on the big slope after his lessons. He wants all his own gear though now, I guess it's only fair if I'm getting a camera. Sadly though the photos I took were pants. My point and shoot just wasn't up to taking good quality pictures at this distance sadly. Never mind, I'm sure my new one will be!!!

Snowboards, flowers, kits and cameras!

Well once again life got in the way and it's been quite a while since I updated this. But never mind, I've got lots to tell you!

Mark went ona 6 hour snowboarding lesson last week, he absoloutely loved it but then proceded to ache like mad for the rest of the week. He certainly made for it! He did it at the new indoor real snow slope at Manchester and we're going back tonight. There's a lovely bar/restaurant with a balcony that overlooks the main slope so I'm going to go and sit on there with a few magazines {latest issues of SI and DSLR User} but it means I should hopefully get some good pictures too!

It was our five year anniversary yesterday and we had a lovely time. Went for a lovely meal in the evening and Mark bought me some beautiful flowers {see the pictures!} and surprise surprise I bought him some snowboarding bits and bobs. They are absoloutely gorgeous flowers! And in my favourite colours of the moment, hot pink and lime green. He's so clever LOL! Still can't quite believe it's been five years. Where on earth has the time gone?!?!

We went to the Lakes on Sunday too. Couldn't go yesterday as Mark had to work but had such a lovely day. It was scorching hot! First of all we stopped off at at Bowness and had a wander round and I bought this fab print. Have seen them before and loved them and now I've finally got one.

We bought it from a shop called Red Gecko and they do lots of different ones so at some point I'd like to get a few more as I love them!

Bowness was mad busy so we drove through Ambleside {again mad busy so we carried on going} and stopped off at Grasmere. Had a wander round and bought some butties and had an ice cream before carrying on to Grizedale. We stopped at Moor Top and had our butties before going for a wander. It was so lovely and quiet and there was hardly anyone about, definately how I prefer the lakes. Managed to get a few good photos too. {For some reason it doesn't want to let me upload these so I'll try again tomorrow!}

I've ordered my first Scrap A Go Go kit today as well. I've had my eye on the August Create kit for a while now as it looks so yummy and it's just gone onto single purchase so I'm giving it a go. I've been thinking about a kit for a while now as I need to stick to a budget and I think by getting a kit I'll still get my fix of having new stash every month and as it's all co ordinated I'm less likely to buy other things. Of all the ones I've looked at Scrap A Go Go is the one I prefer so think I'll be subscribing very soon!

Finally, and I've saved the biggest news til last, I'm going to be going on a photography course. As sad as it is I've well and truely outgrown my current camera. It's done me proud and I've got some photos I'm really proud of out of it, infact I'll be very sad to no longer be using it on a regular basis. As far as a £60 compact digital camera goes it really couldn't have been better, I'd definately recommend it. But I need something more now so I'm getting a Canon EOS 450D. To help me make the most of this, and to allow me to really get my teeth into this hobby I'm signing up to do a City & Guilds DSLR Photography course as nightschool classes that will last a year starting in September. I'm so excited!!!

Holiday LO's and my first crop (well nearly...)

I've been a bit of a naughty blogger. After such a good start I've had a bit of a gap in my posts. But never mind I'm back and blogging again. I've just been so busy with one thing and another. I'm a bit behind with my Shimelle My Freedom prompts too but never mind. I'm hoping to catch up this weekend.

I did do some LO's though the other day, 3 for my France 2008 holiday album. I'm even being good and using up old stash as I've had the BG Pheobe collection back for quite a while now and haven't touched it. I'm hoping I'll be able to do the album with it as the colours work so well the photos.

I've also just booked my place at a scrapbooking crop, will be the first time ever I've been to one. I'm very excited though as can't wait to actually be scrapbooking with other real people! A couple of people from UKS are coming along too so will be fab to meet them in the flesh. Who knows, perhaps after this I'll pluck up the courage to go to the Warrington Crop!

What's in your suitcase?

Ok so todays prompt is all about what we take on holiday and our "must have" items. Definately lots of clothes. Infact more clothes than I will ever wear on the holiday. I always start of with such good intentions and think I'll pack a "capsule wardrobe" but it never happens. You can guarentee that a minimum of 1/3 of the clothes I'll take away will come back unworn. I don't know why I do it, you'd think I'd learn my lesson but I don't. I guess my only excuse is that I like to have lots of choices. Afterall how do I know what I'll want to wear each day?

Next on the list has got to be some FABULOUS SHOES!!! I love shoes. Infact I think I might have something of an obsession for high heeled shoes. It wouldn't be so bad if I wore them but I'm a flats and trainers kind of girl most of the time. But I just can't resist a fabulous and completely impractical pair of high heels. They're just so pretty! I wish I did own these they are truely stunning, a masterpiece in shoe design! However I do have some equally fab shoes I just don't have photos to do them justice. I guess I really should do some good photos. Would make for a good scrapping subject for my BOM. One day I'll get round to it.

Just about the only decent photo I have of a pair of my shoes, yes I really do own these and no I've never worn them out. I just had to have them!
Another must have essential item is definately Chanel's Universal Bronzer. A fab product (a bit pricey but you only use a tiny bit and it lasts for ages) for giving you a tan on your face. It's kind of like a foundation but looks completely natural. Perfect for me as I hate geting the sun on my face and so a must have on any holiday in the sun.
I can't really think of anything else I couldn't live without on holiday. Everything else tends to change when I go away and really depends on what I have or where I'm going or what's in the shops.
So now I challenge you to leave a comment and tell me about your must have items on holiday and what do you pack in your suitcase?

Cupcakes, time travel and other musings

I've been baking today for the first time in a long time. I'm in the Cupcake Recipe Swap on UKS and well I just had to make sure the recipe was ok didn't I? I'm sure Mark will be happy when he comes home and is surprised by cupcakes. I guess I really should bake more. My Mum ran a business for many years making novelty and wedding cakes and she's passed on all the tricks of the trade and even if I do say so myself I do bake a mean cake. It's all in the eggs...

I'm off to a good start with Shimelle's class My Freedom. I've taken nearly all of my photos although I could do with one more for "Time". Today's blogging prompt is all about time travel. It got me thinking and I don't think I'd choose to travel back in time like most would but instead I'd love unlimited time to travel. There's so many places in the world I want to visit but haven't. New York. Paris. The Phillipines. Australia. New Zealand. Thailand. Japan. The list goes on and on. But quite simply we don't have the time (or the money to afford both the cost of travelling and the time off) to do them all. I'm sure one day I will but I want to go now. Imagine a limitless vacation that went on and on and you could to as many places as you wanted. Now that would be perfect!

Perhaps I've got a little off subject there but never mind. And to finish (and still keeping with the theme of travel) here's my favourite photo on the theme of travel from yesterday of my dear car Azzy!

My Freedom Album Cover

Ok so as promised here's my album cover! I really love this and all the little details. The beading was a great find and I love the fabrics used as well as the hot pink lace. Ok well I just love all of it. Most of the stash (the fabrics, the lace, the beading, the ribbons and the embroidery thread) is from my local haberdashery store. The chipboard letters are Sparkly Sweet by K&Co and the fibres are by Blonde Moments. I got the buttons from a fab Etsy seller called BigFish.

The album started life as a plain PM hot pink album that I had lying around spare that was begging to be put to use for something and this class was ideal. I've not put a picture in just yet as I want to see more about the theme of the class before I choose the right photo.

Although I did have an idea about the design it just kind of came together and I'm really pleased with the overall look and the colours are perfect for the papers and embellishments I've put together in my kit for this class.

My Freedom

I can't wait to start Shimelle's new class My Freedom tomorrow. I've been signed up for a few days now and I'm all ready to go. I managed to be strong and resisted buying one of the kits (despite how yummy they all were!) and have put together a kit from my own stash.

I've even decorated the album cover. I know it might be taking a bit of risk as it could be one of the prompts but never mind I had great fun doing it. I'll post a piccie tomorrow when it's better light for taking a photo.

New Beginnings!

Ok so everyone else is getting in on this blog thing so I thought I might as well too. I love looking at other peoples blogs so it's about time I started my own.

A little bit about me... I'm 22, I live in Lancashire in the UK (North West England) with my long suffering partner Mark who is actually pretty understanding when it comes to my crafting. Since we moved to a new house a few months ago I've got my own craft room which I love and is actually giving me the space to oranise my supplies, although it does seem to be a mess most of the time!

Apart from crafting I also enjoy reading and love all things to do with animals. Infact I've even got a degree in animals, BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare. I love our new house as it backs onto fields owned by a private livery yard so not only do I get to sit in my craft room and watch the horses and ponies but also all the rabbits that seem to be in the field, even in the middle of the day!

Well that's about it for now. I need to do lots more fiddling to get this blog right but thought I might as well take the plunge and make my first post. How exciting!
